Heat Dissipation

Heat dissipation sensors correlate the thermal properties of the soil to the water content of the soil. This correlation is based on the theory that the thermal conductivity of wet soil is proportionally higher than the thermal conductivity of dry soil. However, thermal conductivity of soil changes with the components of the soil as well as the density of the soil and therefore, a soil specific calibration is required for each soil used.
